Are you worried about your child's speech and language development? Bring your child to a  First Words screening clinic, they're free of charge and don't require an appointment.

First Words screening clinics are open to Ottawa children from birth until they become eligible to attend senior kindergarten. Screening clinics provide parents with an opportunity to consult with a speech-language pathologist who will check your child for signs of a speech or language delay. All clinics are able to serve families in both official languages. Parental consent for the child to be screened is required.  Our free "drop-in" screening clinics are first come, first served and don't require an appointment. Call the Ottawa Public Health Line at (613) 580-6744 and speak to a Public Health Nurse to find out more.  Assistance with transportation and cultural interpretation are available on request.
