Baby Cupboard 
Emergency baby supplies such as diapers, baby food and formula for families in crisis. Call the intake worker for more information.

Circle of Support
Parenting support program for Arabic and Somali speaking mothers, fathers and their children aged 2 to 6 years. Services are culturally relevant and include peer-parenting support, workshops on parenting topics, access to information and resources, home visiting, family activities, child and parent drop-ins. 

Early Years Centre
Ontario Early Years Centres are places where mothers, fathers and caregivers can get answers to questions, information about programs and services available to young children, and an opportunity to talk to Early Years professionals as well as other parents and caregivers in the community. Services are available for families who have children from birth to 6 years old and include information and referral, drop-in programs, parent/caregiver workshops, toy and resource lending libraries.  Drop-ins are located at various locations and times. Crescendo Parent Support
A fun, support program for parents/caregivers and their children (age 0 to 6 years) looking for information on parenting and sharing ideas and concerns. Drop-ins are located at various locations and times

Emergency Family Shelter: Respite Care
Respite program for families with children aged 0 to 6 years residing at the Carling Family Shelter. Quality, age-appropriate programming.

First Words Preschool Speech and Language Program of Ottawa
The First Words Preschool Speech and Language Program of Ottawa provides speech and language services and education to preschool children (age 0 to 5th birthday) and their families. Call 580-6744 for more information or follow the link to the First Words website.

First Words Infant Hearing Program
Coordination of hearing services for infants including screening of newborns, access to services and supports for babies born deaf, hard of hearing or at-risk for hearing loss in early childhood. Click here for more information.

Headstart Nursery School
The Headstart Nursery School is a fully subsidized half-day preschool program located at Dr. F.J. McDonald School. Children may be registered for morning or afternoon sessions that take place 5 days a week. This program is for toilet-trained children aged 2½ to 5 years whose parents are receiving social assistance benefits. Children will enjoy songs, toys, games, field trips, snacks and more. Limited transportation is available. For more information and eligibility requirements call 829-1125.

Healthy Start Parent Support
Focusing on the pre-natal period and children up to two years of age.  Services are provided that promote the health and well being of the child and parent.  RN, RD and Parent Support Worker facilitate parent education workshops.  The RN and RD also provide support and information at some parent-child drop-ins.

Leaping Lizards
Leaping Lizards is a health promotion and early intervention program for children ages 4 to 6. The after school format focuses on education and recreational activities that promote positive development in children and is offered in two community locations.

Parent and Caregiver Education Workshops
The Centre offers various workshops year-round for mothers, fathers and caregivers caring for children from birth to age 12. Topics include Anger Management for Parents, Preparing Your Child for Kindergarten, How To Talk So Kids Will Listen, Kids Have Stress Too and Beyond the Basics and off to a Healthy Start. One-session workshops are also held throughout the year on a variety of topics in English and French.  Workshops in Somali, Arabic and Mandarin may also be available. Prenatal Nutrition Program
Expectant mothers come and share a meal and participate in discussions related to pre and postnatal topics. Milk vouchers and food supplements available. Groups co-facilitated by staff from Pinecrest-Queensway.

Toy Lending Libraries
Free access to good quality educational and recreational toys for your children from birth to age 6. Toy Lending Libraries are located in several community sites. Call for information.

Well-Baby Clinic/Breastfeeding Support Drop-In
New mothers of babies age 0 to 3 months experiencing difficulty with breastfeeding or looking for answers to the many questions that surround being a new parent. Facilitated by the City of Ottawa, new parents can meet with a public health nurse and network with other new parents. For more information call the Ottawa Public Health Information at 580-6744.

Specialized Parent-Child Groups
The Centre currently offers the following targeted to specific parent groups:

Breastfeeding Support (prenatal and postnatal)
Meet other women, share stories, and gather information. Services of a nurse practitioner, nurse and lactation consultant.

GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender) Drop-In for Parents with their Children
For GLBT parents and their children aged 0 to 6 years. Crafts, songs, games, stories, socializing. Saturday afternoons. 

Infants/Crawlers Drop-In
Drop-in group for parents/caregivers and their non-walking infants. Nursery rhymes, finger plays, resources, breastfeeding support and special guests. 

Reach Out and Read (ROAR)
ROAR is a literacy-based reading program for parents and their preschool children from birth to age 6. Volunteers will read to children and help families enjoy storybooks. 

Fathers Drop-in
Offered to fathers and their children 0 to 6 years of age.  Fathers have an opportunity to participate in fun activities with their child and discuss issues that are important to them in their role as parent.
