Mission
Pinecrest-Queensway Health and Community Services is an innovative
community based, multi-service center. We strive to meet the
needs of the diverse communities we serve. We work in
partnership with individuals, families and communities to achieve
their full potential, paying particular attention to those who are
most vulnerable and at risk. We offer services in both
official languages in designated programs. Vision

Who We Are
At Pinecrest-Queensway Health and Community Services, we provide a
range of health,
community and social services. Core services include primary
care, mental health, children's services and a range of community
programs such as employment, youth programs, multicultural programs
and community development. These services include services for
people who live in the west-end of the City of Ottawa, and regional
programs that cover a broader area. The programs are described
in this brochure. Our team includes a
range of different health and social services professionals. They work
together to provide services that help people and the community
in which they live to be as healthy as possible. Clients can use one
of our services or many, depending on needs. Our work is
enhanced through volunteers and students who provide support to our
programs.
To help individuals to develop the skills and
knowledge they need to be active in promoting their own health, as
well as the health of their communities, we use a health promotion
approach. This approach addresses the broad determinants of
health (e.g. income, housing, employment, etc.). In response
to community needs, language and cultural issues are considered in
our service and program planning. We also have a number of
designated bilingual services, including the Ontario Early Years
Centre.
Started by community members in 1979, the Centre
is one of about 60 non-profit community health centres across
Ontario. It is governed by a volunteer Board oaf Directors
made up of community members elected at our Annual General Meeting.
Community health centres receive funding from a variety of sources.
We would like to acknowledge the continued support of so many
organizations and institutions that continue to provide program or
project funding to Pinecrest-Queensway health and Community
Services. We are grateful to our primary funders - the Ontario
Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Ontario Ministry of
Children and Youth, the City of Ottawa, the federal government
department of Service Canada, and the United Way. We also
receive funding from other levels of government as well as
foundations and other funding agencies. Working in partnership
with other service providers helps us to provide our community with
access to a variety of services.
How You Can Get Involved
If you would like to become more involved in the work of the Centre
you can:
- Give us your feedback:
If you have ideas about how we can serve you or the community
better we would like to hear from you. Your questions or
concerns are important
to us (see procedure below). You can talk to the staff who
serve you or ask to speak to a manager. We also conduct a
client satisfaction survey each year and a client comments box
located in the general reception area of the Centre.
- Become a member:
As a non-profit organization, we have a membership that helps to
provide direction and support to the work of the Centre.
By becoming a member, you can participate in our Annual General
Meetings or any special membership meetings, you may vote at the
AGM including voting to elect our Board of Directors every year,
you also may stand for election to the Board of Directors.
There is no cost for membership. Members are individuals
who are at least 18 years of age and who support the vision,
mission and values of Pinecrest-Queensway Health and Community
Services. The Board includes a balance of people who. live
and/or work in our catchment area and/or are a user of one or
more of the programs and services that we provide as well as
residents who bring experiences that assist the Board with their
work.
- Become a volunteer:
We have a volunteer program at the Centre and we are always
looking for people who would like to give their skills and time
to their community. Call the Coordinator of Volunteers at
613-820-4922 for ideas about volunteer activities that might
interest you.
- Make a donation: Some people cannot give
their time but still want to help people in their community. If
you would like to make a donation of money, goods or services
call 613-820-4922 and ask for the HR and
Corporate Services Coordinator. (Note: We are a
registered charity so tax receipts are provided)

IF you have a concern, an idea of how we could better serve you, or
a complaint, please let us know.

You can talk to your provider

If the provider is not able to resolve the
issue or act on your suggestion, [please ask for his or her
supervisor.

The supervisor will meet with you to
understand the concern or suggestion and review our process for
resolving issues.

You can write down your concern, idea or
compliment and place it in the client suggestion box located in
the general reception area, OR

You can contact the Executive Director by
leaving a telephone message or writing down your concern and
dropping it off at the main reception.
If you need assistance in bringing forward issues,
the help of a staff member or cultural interpreter is available
through the reception desk.
